Customer must bring in some kind of rough dimensions and photos of existing conditions and/or drawing. Dimensions do not have to be formal. See below for example.

With information provided above a rough drawing can be created for pricing purposes and some 3D models can be provided from some of our previous projects to get an idea of what the stair case will look like. See sample below for ideas.

At this point the customer will receive an estimate for their project for review. Estimate will show pricing of all the work to fabricate staircase.
If customer accepts and agrees to the provided price the next step will be for a qualified Boards & Beams staff member to go out to the job site to review and remeasure existing conditions to work out details, such as:

1) Finish floor thickness on all levels must be determined (tiles, flooring, carpets, etc..)

2) Finished wall & ceiling thickness must be determined such as sheet rock or other finished wall materials like Brick, Stone & Reclaimed Wall Paneling.

3) The best time to take field dimensions are during the framing stages of the project.

At this point there is still some flexibility and the option of moving walls over or extending floors to make the best & most beautiful staircase possible. In most cases moving walls will not be necessary but keep in mind the code is strict on the run/rise combination.

Run/Rise combinations must be within compliance, keep in mind that there are minimums & maximums that must be accounted for, see below.
4) After all of the field measurements have been taken and all of the  details have been worked out with the customer a final price will be determined for the scope of the work if different from original estimate a 75% deposit will be required to start the 3D modeling of stair case for customer approval.
Once approved the fabricating of staircase will commence. This process can take from 3-6 weeks or longer depending on the complexity of project.
5) Please keep in mind Boards & Beams is a fabricator and NOT an installer. Therefore, the assistance of a contractor or a handy person will be needed. But not much to worry about since the use of 3D modeling software allows us to accurately and precisely fabricate the staircase to fit accuratley.
Installation should be straight forward although man power will be required. If customer is not able to perform the job an independant contractor can be recommended that can do the install at a reasonable price.
After completion of staircase fabrication all metal and wood components will be wrapped and strapped onto a pallet & delivered on a flatbed truck with a piggyback forklift to assist in the offload of staircase. Keep in mind that Boards & Beams sends only 1 driver with no help. If customer needs materials to be taken into the house they will be required to provide additional man power as we are only able to assist in offloading the materials from our trucks and placing the material on a door step or anywhere outside the home where forklift has access.

If customer is unable to provide additional man power at the time of delivery the material can be left outside under a tarp for a few days without any problems.
